Warhammer Online Stats
One nice thing about Warhammer Online, stats are not the be all and end all. But they do help some classes more than others. Understanding how they work will help you make decisions on your armor and weapons. While trying to find out that exact information, I came across the formulas used for stat calculation. I then started thinking about how these applied to my characters but was having a problem visualizing the numbers, so I plugged in the numbers and formulas into an excel spreadsheet and everything became clear.
Although originally made so I could have a stat sheet that I could print out, I felt this would be good to pass on. I have both a pdf for easy print out and an excel spreadsheet if you want to play around with the numbers yourself. I may add more information to the spreadsheet, and if I do, I will update here.
I also wanted to go over some of the mechanic questions I came across that the stats alone did not answer. One statement of caution, while the numbers are based off released formulas, this mechanic information is sometimes speculation. While often a Mythic employee has stated the information to be fact, other times the statements are based purely off of play.
There really isn’t a great way to put out this information so I will just list it out:
- Toughness reduces all damage by a flat amount.
- Armor reduces physical damage by a percentage.
- Resistances reduce magical damage by a percentage.
- Most stats do have a soft cap.
- The cap increases per player level until you reach 40.
- When you hit the cap with a given stat it turns Orange Gold on your character stat sheet.
- You gain 1 effective point of that stat for every 3 points of stat you earn after hitting the cap.
- The mouseover tooltip shows the effective total stat you have as well as your total stat before diminishing returns.
- Most stats (Strength, Intelligence, ect) have a cap of 1050 at Level 40.
- Armor caps at 75% damage reduction for all levels.
- Resistances cap at 40% damage reduction for all levels.
- While armor has an effective cap, it does continue growth without diminishing returns for when armor is reduced from debuffs.
